Korean Barbecue Bulgogi

a week ago, when most of us were still enjoying in the Lunar New Year holidays, the Pelangians went to a Korean restaurant which is located in Taman Pelangi. They wanted to indulge themselves after all the difficulties they had went through in the previous year.

I have forgotten the name of restaurant. But it is owned by the Koreans. Apparently there are many Koreans start their businesses in Pelangi area. Luckily I know one or two Korea words, so that I could "show off" a bit of what I have learnt. To name a few, 감사합니다 ("gam sa ham ni da" -- thank you) and 안녕하세요 ("An nyeong ha se yo" -- hello).


we had actually ordered the sets of Korea barbecue Bulgogi (grilled marinated beef and pork). As we known, the Korea cuisine are noted for the numbers of side dishes (banchan) and not to forget the kimchi, which is usually served at every single meal. Korea cuisine usually involves rich seasoning sesame oil. And indeed it riches the flavors of Korea food.

as I have told you, we ordered the sets of Korean barbecue Bulgogi, so for sure the I-so-called Lettuce Wraps were served.

Bulgogi is traditionally grilled, but broiling or pan-cooking is common as well. Whole cloves of garlic, sliced onions, and chopped green peppers are often grilled or cooked at the same time.

It is often served to non-Koreans as a first taste of Korean cuisine. This dish is usually served with a side of lettuce, spinach, or other leafy vegetable, which is used to wrap a slice of cooked meat, often times along with a dab of ssamjang, kimchi, or other side dishes, and then eaten as a whole.

after the yummy-meal, the small glasses of saenggang cha (ginger tea) were served to all of us. It smells like Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash ++". However, it is very soothing to drink especially when the pungent taste of ginger is almost neutralized in my mouth except its refreshing taste.

as the days went by like papers in the wind. Everything changed, then change again. Hope the friendship of Pelangians will remain the same.
